Music and video producer/director
Joanne Gardner was senior vice president of video production for Sony Music, where she oversaw video production for Will Smith, Ricky Martin, Beyonce, Aerosmith, Alice in Chains and hundreds of other artists. She was the first woman to win an award for directing a country music video (with Tanya Tucker), directed Alison Krauss’s early music videos, and started the first women-owned production company in Nashville with Rosanne Cash. She’s received multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards for Video of the Year, and has been nominated for a Grammy. Since retiring to Montana, she helped create events including the first Red Ants Pants Music Festival, the Paradise Valley Music Festival, the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and the Livingston Hoot. A life-long singer, she has toured with Rodney Crowell, Darrell Scott and Tracy Nelson, as well as performed in numerous regional bands. She currently performs with her husband John Lowell and in her own naughty blues band Speakeasy.
